The Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, (JUMISC), in Caceres, is an institution dedicated to the training and research of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
Currently the JUMISC is supported by two legal bodies:
1. The Public Consortium, since 1996, formed by the Regional Government of Extremadura (via the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Innovation, and Health and Dependency), the University of Extremadura and the Provincial Council of Caceres.
2. A Private foundation set up via public deeds on 26th May 2006, and registered at the Foundations´ Register of the Ministry of Education and Science, via Order, on 7th December 2006 (BOE n. 10, of 11th January 2007). It was also registered with the Council of Badajoz and other public and private entities.
The new legal entity, Foundation, was adopted as an instrument to reach new means of action, seeking business partners and improving the finance of the Centre, thanks to the entrance of public or private businesses involved in its Trust.
