The Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, (JUMISC), in Cáceres, is an institution dedicated to the training and research of minimally invasive surgical techniques.
The JUMISC organises an extensive program of education and training in various disciplines for resident medical and surgical doctors, nurses, veterinarians, doctors and surgeons and other health professionals
The research that takes place in the JUMISC is aimed at carrying out studies, comparing minimally invasive surgical procedures with traditional surgical techniques, with a special emphasis on applied research

Research Animal Resources (RAR)

The JUMISC is accredited as "User Establishment of Experimental Animals", No CC-001 by the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment of the Board of Extremadura, according to the resolution on February 12, 1998. Â FUNCTIONS Â The Research Animal Resources (RAR) is responsible for establishing and maintaining the animal as an established user, so as to ensure compliance with existing legislation (European Union Directive 86/609/CEE, November 26, 1986 and Royal Decree 1201 / 2005, October 10, as basic legislation reference) and standards for the care of laboratory animals and experimentation (Guide for the Care and Use of Laboratory Animals) for all training and research carried out in the JUMISC. In addition, the JUMISC adheres to the advice of an ethics committee for Animal Welfare, to ensure that the use of animals is carried out according to the criteria and ethical conduct adequate. Â The animal facilities occupy a perimeter area of 3,200 m2. A variety of animal species, such as pigs, sheep, dog, cat, rat and rabbit are housed within this area. Â |
