THE MINIMALLY INVASIVE SURGERY CENTRE

The Jesús Usón Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre, (JUMISC), in Cáceres, is an institution dedicated to the training and research of minimally invasive surgical techniques.

Training

The JUMISC organises an extensive program of education and training in various disciplines for resident medical and surgical doctors, nurses, veterinarians, doctors and surgeons and other health professionals

Applied research

The research that takes place in the JUMISC is aimed at carrying out studies, comparing minimally invasive surgical procedures with traditional surgical techniques, with a special emphasis on applied research

KTO (Knowledgement Transfer Office)

The MISCs Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) registered in the CICyT on April 5th, 1999 -Nr.142- performs the following functions:
  • Promoting cooperation in R&D between our company researchers and health/ ICT-field enterprises.
  • Indentifying technology demands from our environment and promoting the MISC emerged knowledge transfer to the public/private sectors in order to take the R&D results to the market.

To get the previous targets the KTO carries out the following activities:

  • Projects and Nets Department:
  1. Promoting researchers participation in regional, national and European R&D projects
  2. Identifying MISC research results, evaluating their potential transfer and disseminating them.
  3. Making the results transfer easier to public/privates enterprises of our field.
  4. Looking for partners to participate in regional, national, European calls for proposals, through nets.
  5. Technology forums, symposiums and congresses organization & attendance
  • Entrepreneurship Promotion and Legal Consultancy Department:
  1. MISC’s know how, experience and knowledge transferring to current/new enterprises.
  2. Spin-off promotion by attracting regional-national ideas and projects to turn them into enterprises
  3. Synergies creation with health-field enterprises to discover new products and services by cooperation.
  4. Enterprise projects monitoring from the beginning to the consolidation inside the market.
  5. Advice on administrative procedures, taxes payment and funding facilities to set up an enterprise.
  6. IPR’s management
