Computer Science, Image Processing and Communications

The Computing Service, Image and Communications department of the JUMISC offers support within other activities areas in aspects of computing, new technology information and communications, and everything related to image processing, video and medical illustration.

 

At present in this service professionals work in various fields: computer dedicated to the design and management of technical infrastructure, the processing of video support material, the establishment and integration of computer-generated images, and virtual simulation, technician communication managing data networks and communications through video conferencing, as well as medical illustrators who are responsible for pictures and graphic design, as well as producing two-dimensional images.

 

This multidisciplinary makes for the full exploitation of all aspects of infrastructure and development systems available.

 

Objectivity and scientific research undertaken

 

Among the activities of this service include:

  • Issue Publications CD ROMS including interactive multimedia and interactive DVDs with high-quality video.
  • Medical publication illustrators, as above.
  • Posters and publicity-related publications, conferences, courses and projects.
  • All design-related tasks.
  • The development and maintenance of infrastructure, information and communications systems within the JUMISC.
  • JUMISC equipment and software maintenance.
  • Video Editing and composition, as well as CD ROM and DVD production and editing.

We must highlight the contribution of this service within research activities, the participation in projects carried out by other units of the JUMISC, undertaking related tasks, and the development of their own projects as described below:

  • Supporting research projects developed by other units within the JUMISC.
  • One of the resources requiring more graphic design is creating the corporate identity of a new working group, the first step being to establish a logo and a specific font for the corporate stationery, cover art and DVD and CD-ROM design and presentation, to add a defining element of differentiation and positioning.
  • Production photos. Post-photo and digital retouching is used primarily for inclusion in communications to Congress, accompanying scientific articles or covers of medical theses.
  • Develop research projects themselves. Within the Computing Service, Image and Communications there are several lines of research in development.
  • Implementation of ergonomic studies in minimally invasive surgical techniques.
  • Development of surgical simulation technology in minimally invasive surgery.
