|
Cell therapy is a set of strategies that use living cells as therapeutic elements and whose main objective is to repair, replace or restore the function of biological tissue or a damaged organs.
Based on the use of so-called trunk or stem cells, which are the main features and capabilities of self-differentiation to specialised cells, these properties make them the primary tool, not only in cell therapy but in gene therapy and bio-engineered tissue, the basis of regenerative medicine.
The JUMISC is aiming to become a platform for translational research in this field of work, around basic research developed within laboratories, for clinical practice in patients.
PROJECTS
Currently, JUMISC is focusing on the creation and validation of animal models suitable for assessing the applicability, effectiveness and benefit of the introduction of multipotent cells in the treatment of coronary heart disease, acute and chronic, in model pigs.
