The Anaesthetics Unit provides the necessary support to perform experimental surgery in the research projects and training activities that are taught at the Centre.
Continuing Education training programs have been taught in anaesthetics for minimally invasive surgery, respiratory control, the treatment of pulmonary hypertension, or updates on anaesthetics monitoring. In addition, they have conducted training courses and visits abroad customised for the professional practice of anaesthetics.
PROJECTS
A group of projects involving research in basic anaesthetics whitin the fields of anaesthetics for experimental surgery, cardiovascular, laparoscopic, thoracoscopic, microsurgery and other medico-surgical specialties. The second group of projects focuses on peri- and post-operative analgesia, as well as in-depth anaesthetic studies, based on bi-spectral encephalograph, evaluating new methods of ventilation, and in the study of patho-physiological response during aortic surgery or abdominal compartment syndrome.
Operating Theatres
At present, the JUMISC comprises an area of 16 surgical anaesthetic stations including full monitoring, cardiac, respiratory and haemodynamic equipment, to be able carry out general anaesthetics, mostly long-term, in the experimental models that are used in the research and teaching activities.
